TIMESINDONESIA, SURABAYA - Responding to the lack of availability of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and Medical Devices (Medical Devices) for medical personnel, the 2013 Surabaya civil servants gave their assistance to a number of Puskesmas and Hospitals in Surabaya, Saturday (5/4/2020).
Riona Mei from Menur Pumpungan Elementary School who is also the treasurer of the Sugus community donation (Surabaya Teachers' Donations), said the donation is a form of Covid-19 prevention support for medical workers from approximately 150 donors.
"This activity is based on joint initiatives and forms of our support from the teachers for our brothers, namely medical workers who struggle at the forefront of handling this Covid-19. Donations that come not only from teachers, there were 150 more donors who entered," he explained.
He added that because the medical authorities were only pleased to accept donations in the form of goods, donations collected were spent on PPE and Medical Devices. Then given to several hospitals and health centers in Surabaya.
The donations were distributed to Haji Sukolilo Hospital, Jemursari Hospital and PHC (Primasatya Husada Citra) Hospital, Manukan Kulon Health Center, Jemursari, Kalirungkut, Sidotopo, Pakis, and Krembangan.
"The assistance provided is in the form of hazmat clothing, Google glasses, hand sanitizers, multivitamins, nurse cap, latex gloves and masks. These items are mostly still lacking for our medical personnel," he added.
Ajin Udi Prianji, the coordinator of the distribution of donations said that the delivery of PPE and Medical Devices aid to a number of hospitals and health centers was carried out in stages, starting on April 2 to 5, 2020.
"We thank the donors who have entrusted their donations. All donations will be spent and we will distribute them according to the needs of each hospital or health center, even though we cannot possibly fulfill all of them," said Ajin.
